Our Pilsner Malt (standard 2-row pale malt) is crisp and clean malt, with a delicate malt note. Light straw color with yellow hues, it works very well for all lagers and ales, and it is also produced with the highest quality varieties of barley found in Eastern Idaho.

WHISKEY MALT

In the production of Whiskey, the malt undergoes a distillation process. One chemical component of concern in regular malt varieties is acrylamide, which is formed during the high-temperature processing of distillation for malt. Acrylamide is classified as a probable human carcinogen by the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC). In Europe, strict regulations limit its presence in food products to reduce potential health risks (Workers’ Exposure Survey on cancer risk factors in Europe – first findings or Chemicals — European Environment Agency)

Mountain Malt uses European varieties that are non-acrylamide producers, safer for human consumption after the distillation process. These malt varieties are tailored to our customers requests.
